The i800 features wide-opening front doors and sliding side doors, offering easy access for rear passengers. The rear door opens flush with the roof, revealing a wide tailgate aperture and non-existent load sill that makes placing and retrieving bulky luggage as straightforward as possible. Despite its van-like exterior, the i800 features a car-like driving position that provides good visibility. There’s plenty of interior space on offer, with room for eight travellers. Even with all seats in place, the i800 provides 851 litres of load space.

Engines and performance

This MPV is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine, with outputs of 134bhp or 168bhp. The former, which is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, manages a creditable 31.7mpg combined fuel economy figure. If you prefer the convenience of automatic transmission, go for the 168bhp engine option.

A six-speaker sound system is included as standard, featuring an MP3-compatible AM/FM/RDS radio. All models include also AUX and USB inputs and Bluetooth connectivity. Next-tier SE NAV trims also feature a CD player, as well as a seven-inch touchscreen satellite navigation system that offers live traffic updates.

All eight travellers are provided with three-point seatbelts, and ISOFIX anchor points feature in the second row, while tamper-proof rear doors help to ensure that younger travellers are kept safe and secure. Driver aids include Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Stability Control, each helping to significantly minimize the risk of skidding on slippery surfaces.
