Design

A handsome crossover, the new Niro offers plenty of style supported by substance. Its flowing roofline, for example, creates a sense of motion that’s lent practicality by the standard roof rails. Shapely headlamps, meanwhile, give a purposeful aesthetic while providing optimum visibility in low-light conditions.

Step inside to find a comfortable, refined cabin that keeps the road noise at bay and cocoons you and your family in high-quality materials and fine finishes. Relax into the leather seats on ‘3’ and ‘4’ models, and enjoy a ride at the perfect temperature thanks to Dual Automatic Air Conditioning as standard. With up to 1,425 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded too, there’s room for everything you need to carry.

Engines and performance

As a competent city crossover, the Niro is fitted with an ultra-efficient, self-charging hybrid engine. A 1.6-litre petrol unit that produces 104bhp is teamed with a 42kW battery that sits under the rear seat and helps to keep emissions low while delivering sprightly performance. As such, 0-60mph is reached in under 12 seconds and fuel consumption is impressive at 58.9mpg on the combined cycle. With emissions at just 110g/km too, the environment is a key consideration of the model.

Keeping you safe, meanwhile, are stability control, Lane Keep Assist System and Hill-Start Assist Control, as well as six airbags.
