New Mitsubishi Mirage

The smallest vehicle in the Mitsubishi lineup, the Mirage is affordable, simple to drive and cost-effective to run, making it a great choice for first-time drivers and those commuting on a budget.

Design

This attractive supermini is perfectly suited to handle the rigours of busy town and city motoring. Its compact dimensions ensure that weaving in and out of traffic is a breeze – and it slots into virtually any parking space, too. Meanwhile, practical touches such as its large headlamps provide optimum visibility both day and night.

The car’s interior feels pleasingly roomy thanks to its minimalist design and cleverly arranged layout. The dash is intuitive, with controls and instruments clearly visible and easy to operate, while space is maximised to ensure four adults or a young family of five can travel in comfort.

Engines and performance

The Mirage comes with a 1.2-litre petrol engine that is mated to manual or automatic transmission depending on the variant you choose. With a maximum output of 80PS, it’s nippy enough to keep up with the traffic and handle high speeds with aplomb, while 53.3mpg and CO2 emissions from 105g/km ensure it’s green enough to satisfy those wishing to keep an eye on the environment.

Technology

Entry-level ‘Verve’ grades include a four-speaker audio system, featuring an FM/AM tuner and a CD player, as well as USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity. Next-level ‘Design’ trims sport a 6.5" Touchscreen display with Mitsubishi Global Navigation system that can interface with both Apple and Android devices.

Safety

The Mirage’s host of safety technology includes Active Stability Control with Tracion Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, 6-Airbag system, forward collision mitigation and anti-lock braking. Younger travellers are kept especially secure thanks to the inclusion of ISOFIX rear-seat fixtures and tamper-proof door locks.
